Perth Glory have survived a second-minute dismissal to central
defender Jordan Elsey to repel to a 1-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers, decided by a 95th-minute strike by midfielder Aaron McEneff in an unforgettable return to HBF Park on Friday night.
Elsey put the home side behind the eight ball in Glory's return to their home venue, with a challenge on Yeni Ngbakoto which earned the centre-back his marching orders from referee Alex King.
Calem Nieuwenhof and Brandon Borrello pushed the Wanderers in pursuit of an opener with a series of opportunities throughout the 90 minutes, with both players hitting the post as Glory danced with danger.
But, a red card to Wanderers centre-back Tomislav Mrcela equalled the ledger in the 84th minute, as he dragged down David Williams whilst he prepared to run in toward goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas in a one-on-one.
Then, in the fifth of six additional minutes, the hosts stole all three points with McEneff's last-gasp strike which deflected heavily off Wanderers defender Tom Beadling on its way into the back of the net.
